Amanda Keesmaat is principal cellist with Arion Baroque Orchestra, member of the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal (SMAM), Clavecin en Concert and an original member of Skye Consort. Amanda has also toured with Les Violons du Roy (Québec), Pacific Baroque Orchestra (Vancouver) and Tafelmusik (Toronto). Recently she was a guest instructor and performer at the University of Western Ontario, her alma mater. Amanda has frequently been at the heart of productions of La Nef and is the director of Space Time Continuo.
As a specialist on basse de violon, Amanda belongs to Rendez-vous baroque français, an ensemble specializing in French baroque music. In 2017 she joined Opéra Atelier for their production of Charpentier’s Médée in Toronto and in Versailles, France.
Amanda plays continuo on the Juno Award winning albums Vivaldi’s Angels (Ensemble Caprice) and Prima Donna (Arion and Karina Gauvin), and albums with Infusion Baroque, Theatre of Early Music (Daniel Taylor), Les Voix Baroques, and the Orchestre symphonique de la Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent. Amanda has played chamber concerts with Music and Beyond, Domaine Forget, Orford Musique, Ottawa Chamberfest, Musique Royale, Festival Vancouver, Sackville Early Music Festival, Indianapolis Early Music Festival, Hammer Baroque, Regensburg Early Music Days Festival (Germany), the Tilford Bach Festival (England) and the Lamèque International Early Music Festival.
