Described as a “rising star” by Musicworks magazine, Juno-nominated composer Jared Miller’s eclectic music is “playful” (The New York Times), “hypnotic” (Sequenza21), “phantasmagorical” (Lucid Culture) and “highly personal” (CBC Radio).
He has collaborated with the American Composers Orchestra, the Nashville Symphony, the symphony orchestras of Montréal, Vancouver, Toronto, Nova Scotia, Detroit, New Jersey and Chicago, the Attacca Quartet, Latitude 49, the Exponential Ensemble, Standing Wave, Paramirabo, the Emily Carr String Quartet and many others. His music has been featured in the New York Philharmonic Biennial, ISCM World Music Days, The Queer Arts Festival and Festival Internacional de Jóvenes Orquestas.
Latest accolades include SOCAN’s Jan V. Matejcek Award and a nomination for the Juno Award for Classical Composition of the Year. Recent composition residencies include the Hermitage Artists Retreat, I-Park’s International Artist-in-Residence Program and Composer-in-Residence Positions with the Victoria Symphony (2014-2017) and the Lansing Symphony Orchestra (2023-Present).
In 2024, he was Assistant Professor of Composition at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
