Recognized for her absolute mastery of the Baroque repertoire, Canadian soprano Karina Gauvin also performs works by Bach, Beethoven, Mahler, and Britten, as well as twentieth- and twenty-first-century contemporary pieces, with equal success. Gauvin has sung with the world’s greatest symphony orchestras, including the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic, as well as Baroque  orchestras such as, the Venice Baroque Orchestra, Les Talens Lyriques, Accademia Bizantina, Il Complesso Barocco, The English Concert, Collegium 1704, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Les Violons du Roy. She has performed under conductors, Michael Tilson Thomas, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Ivor Bolton, Michel Plasson, Mikko Frank, Teodor Currentzis, Charles Dutoit, Bernard Labadie, Christophe Rousset, Václav Luks, Jérémie Rhorer and the late Alan Curtis among others. and Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, as well as top-notch Baroque ensembles such as Les Talens lyriques, Le Concert de la Loge, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, and Les Violons du Roy. Notable opera successes include her performances in the roles of Vitellia in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Alcina at Madrid’s Teatro Real, the title role in Gluck’s Armide with De Nederlandse Opera, Merab in Handel’s Saul at the Glyndebourne Festival, as well as L’Eternité and Giunone in Cavalli’s La Calisto with the Bayerische Staatsoper.

Karina Gauvin’s recordings, which include her solo albums on the ATMA Classique label as well as contributions to more than 50 other projects, have won numerous prizes, including a Chamber Music America Award for her Fête galante with pianist Marc-André Hamelin, several Juno and Opus prizes, and three Grammy nominations.
