Matthias Soly-Letarte has been immersed in music since his early childhood. Following his primary education at the music-oriented elementary school Le Plateau, he attended two high schools that also offer a music program, Joseph-François-Perrault and Pierre-Laporte, where he chose to specialize in classical percussion. He graduated from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in 2015 with a First Prize with Great Distinction and has since performed regularly with various symphony orchestras and ensembles, such as the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières, Orchestre Métropolitain, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ), the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+), Les Idées heureuses, Arion Baroque Orchestra and L’Harmonie des saisons. He is particularly interested in early music, twentieth-century repertoire and contemporary music.
