Teresita de Jesús Islas is a dancer and singer and plays the jarana (a small Mexican guitar). As a performer and composer of son jarocho, she has been invited to perform widely both in Mexico and elsewhere. The life partner of José Angel Gutiérrez, Teresita is also a member of the group Al golpe del guatime. Teresita de Jesús Islas also pursues a career as a painter and poet.
