Louis-Pierre Bergeron

Renowned for his virtuoso and expressive playing, Louis-Pierre Bergeron is one of Canada’s leading exponents of the natural horn. Following his studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory under Teunis van der Zwart, he returned to his homeland, where he has since performed with established ensembles such as Tafelmusik, the Pacific Baroque Orchestra and the Arion Baroque Orchestra. He has appeared on major stages around the world with renowned orchestras including Europa Galante, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and musicAeterna. Before joining Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra as 4th horn in 2017, he served as 3rd horn of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, 2nd horn of the Orchestre Métropolitain and 1st horn of the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières. He also holds dear his frequent collaborations with Les Violons du Roy. Bergeron was recently invited to codirect Collines-en-musique, a chamber music organization based in the Outaouais region (previously known as Pontiac Enchanté). Collines-en-musique presents some twenty concerts and educational shows each season, with a special focus on early music. What is more, Bergeron has a magnificent collection of period instruments ranging from hunting horns to the earliest instruments using valves and pistons. Having taken part in almost a hundred recordings featuring orchestral and chamber music, opera and popular music, he is proud to launch with Bravura his very first solo album.
