Olivier Laquerre

After receiving the prestigious Joseph Rouleau Prize at the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada Vocal Arts Competition in 1999, baritone Olivier Laquerre went on to win awards at the Paris and Verviers (Belgium) international voice competitions. A regular soloist at the Boston Early Music Festival, Laquerre has recorded with them on numerous occasions on the CPO label (Germany) and has also participated in more than 25 productions with Opera Atelier in Toronto. As has been the case for all artists, Laquerre’s career has been significantly disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. When he learned that all of his opera contracts for 2020 had been cancelled, he joined the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada regiment, with which he continues to practise his vocal art in addition to playing the French horn. Fortunately, he was able to record this album featuring magnificent texts set to music by his long-time friend, the exceptional composer and pianist Louis
Dominique Roy.
