Rising star Daniel Taylor, countertenor, teams up with talented Canadian baroque musicians to offer some of J.S. Bach’s most enticing arias from sacred eorks, including ‘Saget, saget mir gescheinde’ from the Easter Oratorio and ‘Erbarme dich, mein Gott’ from the St. Matthew Passion. Bruce Haynes, on hautbois d’amore, is Taylor’s alto counterpart in most of the arias, and delivers masterly performances of the two concerti, BWV 1055a and BWV 1053a. Haynes was at the forefront of the early music movement during the 70s, and performed with such pioneers as Frans Brüggen and Gustav Leonhardt.
