The Alcan Quartet celebrates its 25th anniversary with a landmark three-volume recording of the complete cycle of Beethoven’s 16 string quartets. Volume II includes quartets from Opus 59 (Razumovsky), Opus 74, and Opus 95 (Serioso). Volume I was released in November 2014 and features the six quartets from Beethoven’s early period, and Volume III will be available in May 2015. Beginning Feb. 10, the quartet will give several concerts in Québec and Ontario, including a Feb 12 concert presented by Chamberfest Ottawa.

The Alcan Quartet—violinists Laura Andriani and Nathalie Camus, violist Luc Beauchemin, and cellist David Ellis—is active in Canada and internationally. Since its formation in 1989, the Alcan Quartet has forged a reputation for excellence across Canada and abroad.
