The publication of arrangements and transcriptions has long been for composers a favoured means by which to dissemate their works. Symphony No 7 was frequently transcribed. In 1816, a German newspaper advertised the publication of versions for string quartet, piano ‘quatre mains’, piano solo, as well the one for wind ensemble recorded on this CD. All these versions apparently met with Beethoven’s approval. Septet Op. 20 was arranged by Jiri Druzecky and Antonio Myslik.
