Description

The flautist Michel Blavet ranks among the foremost performers of his time, regardless of nationality. His second collection of compositions, Sonates mêlées de pièces pour la flûte traversière avec la basse (1732), offers sonatas, with their four alternating slow and fast movements, following the Italian model; but to showcase French taste, Blavet adds character pieces—a kind of portrait, most often written in rondo form, bearing either the name of a person, real or fictional, or a title evoking a quality. Like Blavet before him, without a doubt, Claire Guimond allows us to appreciate all the grace and agility of these beautiful pieces.
