Description
Haydn’s violin concertos offer a fascinating glimpse into the composer’s efforts to reconcile the Baroque concerto with the demands of the emerging classical style. All three are played here by violinist Marc Destrubé, who has been leader of the Vancouver-based Pacific Baroque Orchestra since its beginning in 1990. With an international reputation as a performer of Baroque and Classical repertoire on period instruments, Destrubé concertizes extensively on both sides of the Atlantic, and, like the orchestra he leads, is accomplished also in a wider repertoire including new Canadian music.
