Description

For its first album, the ensemble L’Harmonie des Saisons explores the music of Spain’s New World colonies. Though the names of many great composers of New Spain remain largely unknown to us, the splendid musical works they created in the 17th, and 18th centuries for the courts and cathedrals of the colonies of Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Ecuador are brought to life on this recording, several for the first time.

L’Harmonie des Saisons comprises young musicians and singers from Canada and abroad. They perform on period instruments under the musical direction of world-renowned New York conductor and harpsichordist Eric Milnes. Multi-instrumentalist Mélisande Corriveau is the ensemble’s artistic director.
