Julie Boulianne, one of Canada’s most famous lyric artists, is known for her musical intelligence and great sensitivity. For her, 2011 has been packed with prestigious engagements, including her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York singing the roles of Diane in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride and Stefano in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette. As well, she recently sang Fragoletto in Offenbach’s Les Brigands at the Opéra de Toulon and at the Opéra-comique de Paris, Lazuli in Chabrier’s L’Étoile at the New York City Opera, Cendrillon in Massenet’s eponymous work at the operas of both Marseille and Montreal, Elisa in Handel’s Tolomeo at the Glimmerglass Opera and, finally, her signature role as the heroine of Rossini’s La Cenerentola.
