Description
Composer and bandoneón virtuoso Denis Plante takes the helm of Tango Boréal once again to offer 16 new pieces. These musical travelogues are inspired by his wanderings from one end of the Americas to the other. Plante’s bandoneón deploys its impressionistic palette, and the tango is tinged with the blues. From pampa to taïga, he explores lands of open horizons, freedom, and hope.
Trio Tango Boréal consists of the moving bandoneón of Denis Plante, the impassioned guitar and charango of David Jacques, and the earthy double-bass rhythms of Ian Simpson. Together, they offer fiery performances punctuated by witty comments. Their first recording seduced critics and won the 2012 Opus Prize in the category Disc of the Year, World Music. Trio Tango Boréal has become a dynamic presence internationally, with an increasing number of original works, operas, and collaborations with prestigious soloists and orchestras.
