In June 2012, Belarusian tenor Yuri Gorodetski won the ATMA CD prize at the Montreal International Musical Competition organized by Les Jeunesses musicale du Canada. He was selected among the finalists of last year’s contest by ATMA producer Johanne Goyette. For his first solo CD, Mr. Gorodetski has selected songs by Tchaikosky and Rachmaninov, and is accompanied at the piano by Tatiana Loisha. The CD was recorded in April 2013 at Françoys-Bernier Hall at the Domaine Forget in the Charlevoix region of Quebec.Yuri Gorodetski was born in Mogilev, Belarus. After graduating from the Belarusian State Academy of Music in 2007(with Viktor I. Scorobogatov), he studied with Raina Kabaivanska at the Vecchi Tonelli Institute in Modena and at the Chapelle Musical Reine Elisabeth in Belgium with José van Dam. Currently, Yuri is a member of the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program in Washington, DC.
