Description
Théodore Dubois (1837-1924) was a leading light of the French musical establishment at the beginning of the 20th century. Encouraged by Franck and by Liszt, befriended by Saint-Saëns and Widor, he aspired to carry on the key traditions of 19th-century French music: elegance and brilliance in style, clarity and balance in form, and discipline in harmony.
