Description

Humori is a Renaissance celebration of Carnival — the period between the twelfth day of Christmas and Lent. Ending with Mardi Gras (Shrove Tuesday), Carnival is the party before the 40-day fast of Lent. “Carnival is the world turned upside down, the poor disguised as the rich, the rich slumming it, fake priests and bawdy nuns, women dressed as men, men being walked by dogs dressed as men, and so on in an interminable, almost mad jumble.”

Les Voix Baroques returns for their third ATMA album; the previous two albums have been award winners, and best-sellers. (Buxtehude Membra Jesu Nostri [ACD2 2563] was released in 2007; Canticum canticorum [ACD2 2503] came in 2008.)
