Steve Normandin

Originally from Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Steve Normandin is an ardent champion of French chanson and of the accordion. He is a devoted collector of 78 rpm records and of anything to do with the popular music of the first half of the 20th century. Between 2002 and 2007, he toured the show Chansons en noir et blanc throughout Quebec and France. He also played the role of Nimming Ned (“The Pimp”) in The Busker’s Opera, directed by Robert Lepage. Since 2006, he has divided his time between Quebec and Saint-Pierre et Miquelon; he worked on an exhibit, presented in the latter islands in 2013, about the accordionists and folk balls of bygone days. Steve Normandin is known as an excellent accompanist, and has performed with Raymond Lévesque, Clémence Des Rochers, Marie Michèle Desrosiers, and Paule-Andrée Cassidy.
