Catherine Perrin

Pleins feux

Catherine Perrin leads a very active double life as a harpsichordist and communicator. As a harpsichordist she has played throughout Quebec
with groups such as the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal, Les Violons du Roy, and I Musici de Montréal. With the latter chamber orchestra she has recorded, among other works, Henryk Górecki’s Harpsichord Concerto; this disc, on the Chandos label, was rated 10/10 by the classical music magazine Répertoire and won two Opus prizes. Her first solo disc, 24 Préludes (subtitled Five Centuries of Preludes on Harpsichord), on the ATMA label, was received with enthusiasm. So was her disc Ah ! Vous dirai-je maman !; it was awarded a Coup de coeur by the French magazine Piano. Since 2008, she has performed with the ensemble Bataclan, whose other members are Mathieu Lussier, on bassoon, and Denis Plante, on bandóneon. The trio has made two recordings, both on the ATMA label. Catherine Perrin has hosted musical shows for the Radio-Canada radio network La chaîne culturelle; a Télé- Québec TV show on the film world; and, for four years, the weekly cultural magazine show on Radio-Canada television. Since 2011 she has been hosting Médium large, a major radio program on culture and society broadcast on the Ici Radio-Canada Première network. In the fall of 2013, the Conseil Supérieur de la Langue Française awarded her a prize for the quality of her work as a radio and TV presenter.
