An enquiring and innovative artist, pianist Élisabeth Pion enjoys an active career internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and artistic collaborator.
Élisabeth presented a recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 2022, made her Wigmore Hall solo recital debut in 2021, and her BBC Radio 3 broadcasting debut in 2019. She has notably played concertos with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony, Arion Orchestre Baroque, the Orchestre classique de Montréal and the Ensemble Volte, and has collaborated with numerous conductors, notably Alain Trudel, Thomas Leduc-Moreau, Jacques Lacombe, Geneviève Leclair and Mathieu Lussier.
She will make her debut with Brott’s Festival Orchestra this upcoming July 2023, and her debut with the Orchestre Métropolitain this upcoming January 2024. Élisabeth is also scheduled to make her recital debut in China in 2024, postponed due to the pandemic.
Élisabeth was from 2020-2023 pianist of the De Beauvoir Piano Trio. During her time with the ensemble, the trio was a prize winner of both the 2022 Vainiunas International Chamber Competition (Lithuania) and the 2021 Virtuoso & Bel Canto Competition (Italy); they also were Chamber Ensemble in Residence of the 2022 Britten Pears Young Artist Program (United Kingdom) and the Festival Sainte-Mère (France). They notably worked with Thomas Adès during International Music Seminar (IMS) Prussia Cove and were invited by the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) for their 2023 showcase in Oslo (Norway). Past engagements include the 50th anniversary of the IMS at the Wigmore Hall and Leeds International Concert Season.
Élisabeth places great value on approaching music from a holistic perspective. Her deep interests in literature, writing, repertoire research and tai chi nurture her musical practice. She is also fascinated by composition, as well as the elaboration of cadenzas for classical concertos.
Since 2020, Elisabeth is co-artistic director and co-founder of the Festival Unisson with cellist Agnès Langlois, an immersive festival inspired by The Artist is Present (Marina Abramovíc) and the 1:1 Concerts in Germany.
Élisabeth has been awarded the 2022 Prix Choquette-Symcox from the Fondation Jeunesses Musicales Canada. She is grateful for the support of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation, the Musician’s Company of London, The Jane Ades Ingenuity Scholarship Fund, Help Musicians UK, Talent Unlimited UK, and the Fondation Jeunesses Musicales Canada.
Élisabeth graduated with both an Artist Diploma and an Artist Masters with the highest mention from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she studied with Ronan O’Hora. Élisabeth is currently a Junior Fellow at the Guildhall School, an alumna of the Imogen Cooper Trust, and a Young Artist of the Musicians’ Company of London until 2024.
