Jean Maheux

A versatile artist, Jean Maheux is known equally as a dancer, singer, and actor. He came into the limelight following his masterful interpretation of Don Quixote in L’homme de la Mancha. His talent was recognized by the Académie québécoise du théâtre in 2003 with a nomination for Best male performance for his role as Don Quixote. He has also appeared in several other musicals including Gala, Napoléon, L’archange, Antoine et Cléopâtre, L’eau qui danse, la pomme qui chante et l’oiseau qui dit la vérité as well as L’enfant des glaces, a work that was revived in 2013. In 2017, he participated in the production of Poulenc’s Bal masqué under the direction of Normand Forget. As a dancer, he has worked mainly with Dulcinée Langfelder in La voisine, Hockey! OK? and Portrait d’une femme avec valise, and he was a member of Virtuous Circle Dance Theatre from 1987 to 1995. As a stage actor, Maheux has played in L’iliade, Toutefemme, Les exilés de la lumière, Le portier de la gare Windsor, Les menteries d’un conteux de basse-cour, Une vie presque normale, Le carnivore pourpre, L’auberge des morts subites, Molière, ses farces et ses comédies, L’île aux sabots, La bonne âme du Se-Tchouan, and Pain blanc. As a screen actor, he has played in such television productions as Chartrand et Simonne, Cornemuse, Le négociateur, Virginie, L’auberge du chien noir, Au secours de Béatrice, Trop and Les pays d’en haut, to name but a few. He is also part of the web series Les Argonautes and L’ascenseur.
