Kathleen Fortin

A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada (1997), Kathleen Fortin has found her place on the Montréal theatre scene in some fifty productions. Fortin is also a key figure in Quebec musical theatre. She was part of the cast of the highly acclaimed production Les belles-sœurs, which was a resounding success in Paris and throughout Quebec. In 2018, the play was remounted, and she appeared as none other than the mythical Germaine, the lead role. She also played Peachum in L’opéra de quat’sous (directed by Brigitte Haentjens), Madame Thenardier in Les misérables (directed by Frederic Dubois), Émile’s mother in Nelligan (Orchestre symphonique de Montréal), and she participated as a singer in Avec le temps, for which she was nominated for a Masques Award in the category of Discovery of the Year. Fortin played the role of Betty Bird in Demain matin, Montréal m’attend in 2017 and 2018, under the direction of René Richard Cyr. In 2019, she performed in Chansons pour filles et garçons perdus at Theatre d’Aujourd’hui, Le meilleur des mondes at Theatre Denise-Pelletier and on tour with Les 4 saisons d’André Gagnon. On the big screen, she has appeared in Ma mère est chez le coiffeur, Cruising bar 2, Mars & Avril, L’affaire Dumont and Sophie Deraspe’s most recent film, Antigone. Her television appearances have included Les invincibles, Un sur 2, Au secours de Béatrice, Fatale-Station, and more recently, L’académie, Olivier and Unité 9. Fortin earned her first Gemeaux nomination in 2018 for her moving performance in Olivier as Best Supporting Role in a Drama Series. In 2020, she was part of the cast of the series Épidémie on TVA and Mon fils on Club Illico. She was featured in the new drama series Après, available on ICI TOU.TV EXTRA. On stage at the Theatre du Nouveau Monde, she once more played the role of Émile’s mother in Nelligan for the 2020 winter season.
