Marc Boucher

For almost 20 years, Canadian baritone Marc Boucher has had an active career performing in operas, symphony concerts, and recitals. His notable opera performances, in New York and Mexico and elsewhere, include singing the roles of Zurga in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles; Pelléas in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, at the Opéra de Montréal; Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, in Dublin; Citheron in Rameau’s Platée, at the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens; Le Duc de Santa Fe in Théodore Dubois’ Aben-Hamet; Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande, at the Festival d’Opéra de Québec; Publio in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito; and, upcoming, Collatinius in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, at the Atelier lyrique de Tourcoing. His recording of the complete songs by Francis Poulenc, released in Fall 2013, was followed, in Spring 2017, by that of the complete songs by Gabriel Fauré. Both recordings are on the ATMA Classique label. During the past four years, he has been engaged in the immense undertaking of recording the complete songs of Jules Massenet. In 2009 he was awarded an Opus prize for international achievement. The recording of Gabriel Fauré’s complete songs was awarded the 2018 Opus prize for album of the year in the Classical, Romantic, post-Romantic, and Impressionist music category. The baritone won a second Opus prize in 2018, for the show Venus & Adonis with Clavecin en concert. Since 2011, Marc Boucher has served as general and artistic director of Festival Classica in Saint-Lambert, Quebec, Canada.
