Known for her musical intelligence and refined artistry, soprano Marie Magistry has earned a solid reputation as a sought-after performer on the Canadian music scene. Her round, clear tone is well suited to a wide range of repertoire, and she is particularly admired for her interpretations of music from the Baroque and Renaissance eras. Ms. Magistry appears regularly with Quebec’s most prestigious ensembles: Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, Les Violons du Roy, Ensemble Arion, Ensemble Caprice, Les Boréades, Les Idées heureuses, Clavecin en Concert, La Nef, l’Harmonie des Saisons, l’Opéra de Montréal, I Musici, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitain Orchestra. She has sung in the most prestigious halls in Canada, the United States, and Europe, as well as in many international festivals. Co-founder of vocal ensemble Meslanges, Marie spearheads varied and inspiring projects, both as a soloist and chamber musician, that have led her to participate in a number of renowned concert series and festivals. She can be heard in various contexts on the Atma, Naxos, Analekta, Sony and Deutsche Grammophon labels on recordings that have received several awards. She earned her Masters’ degree from McGill University and has received grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec as well as the Canada Council for the Arts.
