Tafelmusik, Canada’s baroque orchestra on original instruments, has achieved international recognition and critical acclaim in a very short period of time. Founded in 1979 by Kenneth Solway and Susan Graves, the orchestra has expanded rapidly since the arrival of Music Director Jeanne Lamon in 1981, and in 1984 was the first North American baroque orchestra to be invited to tour Europe.

All of the Tafelmusik players are first class soloists in their own right, who join together in the performance of baroque masterworks in a collaborative style usually associated with only the finest chamber music. By exploring authentic performance practices, the musicians reveal the richness, brilliance, and clarity of the actual sound intended by the great composers of the Baroque period.
