Xavier Fortin

Orchestral musician, chamber musician and soloist on the occasion, Xavier Fortin work actively as a horn player on the Montreal and Quebec musical scene. His career has led him to perform through a vast repertoire ranging from early music to new music. In addition to his positions with the symphony orchestras of Sherbrooke and Laval, he regularly works with several orchestras including the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa as well as Les Violons du Roy in Quebec City. A graduate of McGill University where he studied with John Zirbel, and the Amsterdam Conservatory, he studied modern music in the Amsterdam ensemble Asko / Schönberg under the direction of Reinbert de Leeuw and in natural horn with the Dutch soloist Teunis van der Zwart. Xavier Fortin teaches horn and chamber music at Collège Lionel-Groulx in Sainte-Thérèse, at Joseph-François-Perrault High School in Montreal and at the Summer Concert Band at Camp Musical des Laurentides.
