Montreal-based wind quintet Pentaèdre and mezzo-soprano Noëlla Huet bring life to works inspired by melodies and texts of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, as well as of the late 18th century. Orchestrations of melodies of bygone eras, contemporary arrangements of popular dances, and contemporary music that evokes a medieval atmosphere, all are brought together on this recording in a collection of ancient airs, composed or arranged by 20th-century composers.
