Description
Pentaèdre tackles the twin peaks of the Russian repertoire, Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, in two astonishing transcriptions for wind quintet. Swiss horn player Stéphane Mooser transcribed the Mussorgsky piece and American clarinetist Michael Byerly made the transcription of the Stravinsky.
A unique musical ensemble in the Canadian landscape, Pentaèdre explores and presents to the public a diversified and original chamber music repertoire, developed in the tradition of music for winds. Founded in 1985 and under the artistic direction of Louis-Philippe Marsolais since 2005, the five artists-musicians forming the quintet are recognized for the talent, technique, precision and color they bring to their performances.
