A virtuoso with a warm, elegant style and eclectic repertoire, pianist David Jalbert has established himself among the elite of his generation: “David Jalbert’s name now rightfully deserves its place in the pantheon of our great performers” (L’Actualité). One of the 15 best Canadian pianists of all time according to the CBC, Jalbert performs regularly as a soloist and recitalist in Canada and across the globe, and his recordings have received universal acclaim. His album Fauré: Complete Nocturnes was selected as the modern reference version by France Culture’s La tribune des critiques de disques’s jury, and his recordings featuring music by Bach, Shostakovich, Poulenc and Prokofiev were all met with similar success. As a soloist, Jalbert has appeared with various orchestras, including the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Toronto, Dublin and Vancouver symphony orchestras, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Les Violons du Roy and the Orchestre Métropolitain. Equally prolific as a chamber musician, he has collaborated with dozens of world-renowned artists. David Jalbert is a five-time Juno Award nominee and has won six Opus prizes as well as the prestigious Canada Council for the Arts Virginia Parker Prize (2007). He is now Full Professor of Piano at the University of Ottawa.
