Description
Janina Fialkowska, Canada’s “First Lady of Chopin” continues her celebration of the Chopin anniversary with a program devoted to the composer’s beloved Piano Concertos. This new ATMA CD was recorded during a live concert in March, 2010 with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bramwell Tovey.
Chopin was barely 20 when he composed his two concertos, which he wrote at practically the same time. The F minor, begun in 1829, was premiered on March 17, 1830, while the E minor, then still on the drawing board, was first performed on October 11 of the same year at the very last concert Chopin gave before leaving Poland.
