Handel Arias is a new recording by soprano Karina Gauvin, whose uniquely technically remarkable voice, deep musicality and exceptional range of register have won over audiences and critics around the world, from the Royal Opera House to London at Lincoln Center in New York. She is accompanied by conductor and harpsichordist Alexander Weimann in the direction of her new ensemble, Tempo Rubato. Handel Arias is Karina Gauvin’s fifth recording for ATMA. There are tunes from oratorios from Handel’s London period: Messiah, Semele, Samson, Jephta, Solomon…. It also includes the formidable aria, “Lascia ch’io pianga”, from the opera Rinaldo.
