Description
This is the first CD entirely devoted to works by composer and conductor Walter Boudreau. In 1974, he won Radio-Canada’s Young Composers Competition. In 1991, Golgot(h)a, for 7 brass and 5 percussion instruments, organ, digital choir and sampled voice, received in Paris the Grand Prix Paul-Gilson from the Community of French-language Public Radios (CRPLF). From 1990 to 1993, he was the first composer in residence at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Finally, in the autumn of 1998, the Conseil québécois de la musique awarded him the Opus prize for Composer of the year. Boudreau has received many commissions from various orchestras and musical societies. He has written nearly fifty works for chamber ensemble and for orchestra, some fifteen film scores as well as two ballets.
