ATMA Classique is proud to present Chopin Recital 4, featuring the celebrated pianist Janina Fialkowska, a towering figure on the international classical music scene. Fialkowska has made 14 much-admired recordings for ATMA Classique since her label debut in 2005, including another six programs devoted exclusively to Chopin, a composer for whom she has a great affinity.
This latest recording was made at Palais Montcalm in Québec and features two Chopin Polonaises, Op. 40; three Preludes, Op. 28; two Nocturnes; the Ballade No. 1, Op. 23; the posthumously published Valse in A Minor; the Berceuse, Op. 57; the Scherzo No. 3, Op. 39; and the Grande valse brillante, Op. 18—the composer’s first and best-known waltz.
