Description
The 19th century witnessed the birth of what the Germans called “Hausmuzik” (music for the home), answering to the desires of amateur musicians to make music with family and friends. Many of even the most celebrated composers satisfied the tastes of these musicians by adopting a simpler, more “popular” and humble approach, while never sacrificing good taste. This set the stage for a new genre: the song accompanied not by the piano alone, but with another instrument, such as the clarinet. For her first recording with ATMA, the soprano Aline Kutan, along with the clarinetist André Moisan and the pianist Louise-André Baril, propose a representative selection of the genre, from the famous lied Der Hirt auf dem Felsen (The Shepherd on the Rock) by Franz Schubert, to the Christmas Songs Op. 8 by Peter Cornelius.
