Dominique Côté

Winner of several international awards, Dominique Côté is praised by audiences and critics alike for his warm voice and deeply moving interpretations. His first solo album, Amour et fantaisies: Mélodies de Lionel Daunais, released on the ATMA Classique label, received enthusiastic acclaim and was nominated for Recording of the Year at the 2022 Opus Awards.

His discography includes numerous world premieres: La SADMP by Louis Beydts with the Orchestre Avignon-Provence; Nicandro e Fileno by Paolo Lorenzani with Les Boréades; L’affaire Tailleferre by Germaine Tailleferre with Opéra de Limoges; Léonore by Pierre Gavaux with Opera Lafayette; as well as two recordings of the title role in André Gagnon’s opera Nelligan, with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and for ATMA Classique.

Among his notable stage roles are the title role in Nelligan for multiple companies; the Countess in Les feluettes at Edmonton Opera; Dr. Falke and Eisenstein in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus in Montréal, Québec City, Tours, and Geneva; and Gérard in the world premiere of Christian Thomas’s Messe solennelle pour une pleine lune d’été at the Festival d’Opéra de Québec. He has appeared in numerous performances of Handel’s Messiah and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Mr. Côté has sung under the baton of conductors such as Kent Nagano, Hervé Niquet, Christophe Rousset, Theodor Guschlbauer, Jacques Lacombe, Nicolas Ellis, Matthias Maute, Alexander Weimann, Jean-Marie Zeitouni, and Thomas Le Duc-Moreau, in repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary, with a particular affinity for French and Québécois music of all eras.
