Since its inception in 1987, the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal has been committed to providing pioneering Canadian composers with an arena in which to develop new creations. The current CD is the first in the Nouveaux Territoires series, aimed at promoting important works developed through collaboration with the ECM. The works have been selected both for their originality and evocative power.These four composers are part of the same generation; their works are characterized by a great diversity of style, communicative lyrical approach and rhythmic treatment, as well as a stimulating freedom of expression.
